Student YouTube Videos Save Trees

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

My 4th grade class made YouTube videos to spread our catalog canceling project to others in hopes that more schools and scouts will join us. We made the videos as we canceled unwanted sales catalogs for 30 days to save trees, water, energy, and climate. Our school canceled over 3,000 this year saving 40 trees! Pass the vids on to any green kids or teachers you know.

I will let the videos speak for themselves. For details about the project, go to www.CatalogCancelingChallenge.com. For details about the catalog problem, read this article.

Kids are so great! I'm gonna cancel some catalogs. I just never think about it. Catalogs just appear in the mail and I used to throw away the ones that didn't interest me. Now I'll take a minute to call and cancel them. Thanks to the Hero Kids!!! Kids do so much good. A number of years ago school kids in Hawaii noticed that as more people came to Hawaii and things got more crowded to new comers that the spirit of Aloha was being shown less. So they printed up a bunch of bumper stickers that said "Live Aloha" and began to cover the islands with them and the spirit of Aloha returned in greater strength because the bumper stickers are on nearly every car and you can't avoid thinking about it. Aloha is kindness and respect and gentle ways. And it was the kids who reminded us all how important it is. Perhaps it's time to ask the kids how to resolve the problems between the Palestinians and Israel. They might have some wise answers if we gave them all the facts on both sides. Eisenhower said that someday the people would have had enough and they would force their governments to stop making wars. Maybe it will start with the kids. What great kids!

Thanks Karela. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos ... and that you see the wisdom and clarity of childhood. We all need to tap into that more often, as the Aloha stickers prove. Good luck canceling your cats. -Ted
