Good hair days are a guarantee.

Believe it or not, the type of hairbrush that you run through your strands first thing in the a.m. and right before hopping into bed at night means the difference between good hair and great hair. Sure, it seems like a no brainer, but the tools you use to carefully craft your style of choice on the daily basically determine whether you'll have a good hair day (or not). A general rule of thumb: Don't settle on the first brush you stumble across that looks like it'll get the job done.

Rather than fantasize about perfect strands sans frizz and flyaways for the rest of your life, make them happen with a brilliant brush. "With so many brushes to choose from, you should opt for one that works for your hair type and preferred style," suggests Larkin Brown, a Pinterest researcher and style expert. "Are you going for smooth locks (paddle brush, please) or volume (round brush to the rescue)?" Whether you have thick curls or flat, static-prone strands, tailoring a brush to your texture or desired style is a foolproof way to keep your strands in check all day without ever having to consult a mirror.

"Luckily, the most-Pinned brush on Pinterest is perfect for any hair type or styling goal," Larkin says. "The wet brush is the gentlest out there, and safe enough to use on freshly washed hair." With this brush in your beauty arsenal, gone will be the days of violently tearing through knots post-shower, no matter your texture. "Watch out for lesser lookalikes and go for the original wet brush," Larkin says. Now go get grooming.
