Joseph Farah's Lie About WorldNetDaily, Obama Birth Certificate
The good news: Joseph Farah finally acknowledges the existence of his own website's previous reporting on Barack Obama's birth certificate.
The bad news: He lies to his readers about it.
In his Dec. 20 column, Farah begins truthfully by noting: "From Media Matters to Keith Olbermann to Democratic members of Congress, they are all eagerly attributing to WND a definitive finding that Barack Hussein Obama's website displays an actual copy of his birth certificate." But then the lies begin when he states: "There's just one problem. Nothing could be further from the truth."
Farah continues:
Here's an example. It's a constituent letter from Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Wash. He writes: "As you know, President-Elect Obama has indeed provided his actual paper Certification of Live Birth to several media organizations, as well as the Annenberg Foundation's non-partisan 'Factcheck.org' website and the conservative news website WorldNetDaily, which reported that a WND investigation into Obama's birth certificate utilizing forgery experts also found the document to be authentic.' In fact, all of these groups have recognized that the president elect's actual birth certificate document is real and genuine."That statement is totally and obviously false.
It's too bad contempt of Congress charges don't work in reverse - so that citizens could jail members who lie to them.
At no time did Obama ever make his actual birth certificate available to WND - or any other news organization.
WND did offer up to forgery experts the facsimile of a partial birth certificate posted on his website. None of them could report conclusively that the electronic image was authentic or that it was a forgery.
Farah is lying. Here's what WND reported on August 23 (emphasis added):
A separate WND investigation into Obama's birth certificate utilizing forgery experts also found the document to be authentic. The investigation also revealed methods used by some of the bloggers to determine the document was fake involved forgeries, in that a few bloggers added text and images to the certificate scan that weren't originally there.
At no point does the August article express any doubt about whether its "forgery experts" could "report conclusively that the electronic image was authentic or that it was a forgery" as Farah claims; it unmabiguously and definitively states that "forgery experts found the document to be authentic."
As for the claim that "At no time did Obama ever make his actual birth certificate available to WND - or any other news organization," here's what the August article also stated (emphasis added):
However, FactChecker.org [sic] says it obtained Obama's actual birth certificate and that the document was indeed real. The site discredited some of the claims of Internet bloggers, such as that the certificate as viewed in a scanned copy released by Obama's campaign lacked a raised seal. FactChecker.org [sic] also established that many of the alleged flaws in the document noted by bloggers were caused by the scanning of the document.
Indeed, FactCheck.org states that it has "seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate," adding, "We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship."
Curiously, Farah does not suply a link to that August article in his column so his readers could judge for themselves. What is Farah afraid of?
Having lied about his website's own reporting, Farah then tries to spin it away:
But, here's the rub. Even if the image is authentic, which remains under serious question, it proves nothing. It is not a complete birth certificate. It doesn't answer the key questions as to whether Obama was indeed born in Hawaii, as he claims.[...]
If anything, the fact that members of Congress and Obama's running dog lackeys in the media have to rely on WND to prove their candidate's constitutionally viability to serve should raise red flags from coast to coast.

The overwhelming preponderance of reports by WND on this matter raise serious questions about the eligibility of Obama to serve as president. Therefore, quoting one sentence out of context in one report represents a serious and deliberate distortion by those who are grasping at straws to justify their own predetermination of the facts.
Farah overlooks the fact that the reason that report is being cited is because it contradicts WND's subsequent reporting on the birth certificate, and neither Farah nor WND has offered an honest explanation of the chasm between the two -- or why it has refused to acknowedge the existence of that August 23 report in its subsequent reporting. The fact that "The overwhelming preponderance of reports by WND on this matter raise serious questions about the eligibility of Obama to serve as president" doesn't mean those reports are true.
And what, exactly, is the false context in repeating the August article's unambiguous statement that "A separate WND investigation into Obama's birth certificate utilizing forgery experts also found the document to be authentic"? Farah doesn't explain.
Farah also fails to explain away another statement in that August article: that Philip Berg's lawsuit charging that Obama is not a natural-born citizen in part "relies on discredited claims."
The fact that Farah is so blatantly lying about his own website's report about the birth certificate demonstrates just how far gone around the bend he is on the issue. He really is determined to destroy Obama at any cost -- including the truth.
UPDATE: Keith Olbermann seems to have used this post as the inspiration to name Farah his "Worst Person in the World" on Jan. 5. Thanks, Keith!

Your articles never explain both sides of the issue, here is a more balanced article. Readers need to know that on of the 18 lawsuits is brought by a Democrat, Berg.
LIMA, Ohio — The most underreported story of 2008 has to be the continuing saga of a few brave souls who are working through the courts to force President-elect Barack Obama to prove his citizenship.
In fact, a report from The Associated Press dismissed the whole thing as nothing but Internet conspiracy theories.
This lack of coverage is just the latest example of why I have mostly lost hope for the mainstream media in the United States.
Thanks to the lack of media coverage, many of you reading this may be unaware of the multitude of lawsuits challenging Obama’s citizenship and his legal right to be president.
The Framers, when putting together our Constitution, inserted Article 2, Section 1, Clause 4, which tells us. “No Person except a natural born Citizen … shall be eligible to the Office of President.” The same clause prevents Austrian-born California Gov. Arnold A. Schwarzenegger from being president.
There have been at least 17 lawsuits filed in state and federal courts alleging that Obama does not meet the Constitutional requirement of being a natural-born citizen.
Farrah is a fantasist. He has never been and will never be a reporter unless you accept the Fox News contention that being truthful is not required of any news media. Within that proviso anything Farrah's diseased mind creates is news. It may never have come near truth but it is news.
Trying to convince the loonies of the facts will never happen. I am sure they beleive that Hillary, McCain, the Republican Party, and the US Government are part of this vast conspiracy to elect someone who is not eligible for run.
Haven't heard Joseph Farah's name in a while, years ago I would occasionally check out World Nut Daily, it is a great site. especially if you like your news as you imagine it, free from any filter of reality. I rate it 4 tin foil hats. And since he's funded by Dickie Scaife, it's plutocrat approved!
So lemme see.Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham - an impoverished college student who had never travelled outside the US before (and who had no passport) gets married to a Kenyan student, who also has minimal financial assistance...and while pregnant decides to join him in a 20,000 mile multi-nation flight back to his homeland of Kenya to give birth to heree new son.
Except the money wasn't there from the US government to sponsor such a flight. It would have disrupted both their academic careers. And possibly harmed the pregnancy.
In addition Barack Sr. had never told his new wife about his prior marriage. So why would he fly back with her? His first wife claims that she knew about the second marriage, but NEVER met Barack Jr. until about 10 years ago. She said that she never met Ann Dunham, and her husband only returned to Kenya when he finished his education at Harvard. In fact, her second son was only born after that return.
All of this nutty scenario of a foreign birth requires such wild fantasies...in addition...it requires that after the birth in Kenya for the couple to rapidly return..
... and then, in a "Oh sh*t, our child won't be a "native born" American under the nuances of American law and thus will be ineligible to be President" the deign to obtain a false certificate of birth by bribing the hospital staff...and posting an announcement in the Honolulu papers!
Don't forget the healthcare standards in a 3rd world country over 40 years ago......
Hinnis, for crying out loud, don't you think that had there been even an iota of a possibility that President Elect Obama wasn't a natural born citizen that Hillary would have been all over it like a rash during the primaries? And with all the other smears that the McCain/Palin campaign threw at Obama, that was about the only one they DIDN'T use. Why do you suppose that is?
You know what? At this point, if I were President Elect Obama, I'd refuse to produce the Certificate of Live Birth just because it irritates you to distraction.

But, do you know what, it doesn't matter. Because I don't have to convince anyone. The vast majority of the population, and the totality of the judiciary and criminal justice authorities, and all the electors, etc., etc., agree with me. I'm delighted with the status quo.

OK, where do we stand?
Obama has produced a Certification of Live Birth, an official State of Hawaii document with a stamp and a seal, that says he was born in Honolulu. That document is prima facie evidence in any court in the land.
If the document is a fraud, it should be an open invitation for any prosecutor to bring criminal charges, but none has done so.
Now we get some hand-waving about how people born outside Hawaii can have their births registered in Hawaii -- but not the slightest evidence that in such cases their COLB would specify a Hawaiian birthplace.
So, it's one piece of evidence in favor of Obama and nothing credible in opposition.
Of course, the legal system is still open to you, but you've obviously convinced no one so far.
Not only that, but State of Hawai'i officials have gone into the vault and inspected the original and have testified that it is genuine and that Obama is indeed a natural born citizen.
Apparently, the U.S. is undergoing an unreported tin foil shortage.
Scenario; When the sealed official votes of the electors are forwarded to Vice President (Cheney) on Jan 3 at noon who opens them officially before a joint session of the new Congress and declares who has a majority and is therefore officially President Elect (Obama is not PE officially until the votes are opened and announced. A parliamentary inquiry challenging any one of the votes (as happened in 2001) (supported by a member of the other house) --- in this instance a die hard Republican would challenge Obama's qualifications. There would then be a question put to the House (I suppose, there must be Senate or House rules on this) in 2001 the question was about Ohio's votes if I remember correctly. Anyway it was voted down. But it probably would be one of those House one vote per state things). Cheney might allow debate but I would guess the House following its own rules on this procedural case on appeal from the chair would rule the question out of order. I suppose everything would be arranged in advance to avoid scandal (as wasn't done in 2001). Obama would have a copy of his certificate in his pocket. Just what we need, a conspirqcy to deprive a popularly elected black man of the presidency in the middle of a major city with 3/4 of the population heavily armed African Americans (and 2/3rds of the rest Democrats). Talk about burn baby burn! Remember what happened when MLKJr was murdered!

Under Hawaiian law, amended certificates of birth may be prepared and filed with the Department of Health, as provided by law, for 1) a person born in Hawaii who already has a birth certificate filed with the Department of Health or 2) a person born in a foreign country.

Are you suggesting that someone born in a foreign country could obtain a Certification of Live Birth stating that he was born in Honolulu?
That seems like the crux of the issue to me. Can you show me a COLB that states falsely that a foreign-born person was born in Honolulu?

The law everyone in the conspiracy brigade loves to quote about registering a out of state birth didn't take affect until 1982.

Maybe you should stop to think that even a birth is registered in Hawai'i from out of state, that the PLACE OF BIRTH that is listed on the Certification of Live Birth would list WHERE the child was actually born?
Wrong. Here is the statute under which a birth certificate can be issued to someone not born in Hawaii:
[§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State. (a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.
(b) Proof of legal residency shall be submitted to the director of health in any manner that the director shall deem appropriate. The director of health may also adopt any rules pursuant to chapter 91 that he or she may deem necessary or proper to prevent fraudulent applications for birth certificates and to require any further information or proof of events necessary for completion of a birth certificate.
(c) The fee for each application for registration shall be established by rule adopted pursuant to chapter 91. [L 1982, c 182, §1]
Obama's mother was an American - that makes him a natural born American NO MATTER WHERE HE WAS BORN. The overwhelming evidence, however, is that Obama was born in Hawaii. Other doubters, like yourself, are twisting the facts into knots to make your case; in the process, you make yourself look like the worst kind of a sore loser.
You have naturalized citizenship and natural born mixed up big time. Yes having a US citizen as a mom makes him automatically a US citizen, but to be a "natural born citizen" is totally different. You have to be born in America first. For some reason there was a Swedish woman who had a case in the Supreme Court and they were deciding if she was fact a "natural born citizen or not. Her parents were not yet naturalized US citizens when she was born in the USA and then became so after she was born. The Supreme Court did rule on this case and said she could be considered a "natural born citizen". To be born a "natural born citizen" you do have to be born on American soil no matter what, that is a given. You can loose your "natural born citizenship" status as well, but this does not take away your US citizenship however. My point is you do have to be born in the USA to be considered "natural born citizen" and our founders mention this in Article II of the Constitution.
The simple way to find out the complete truth to any story is for the accused to come clean with the truth.
Mr. Obama needs to come clean with this issue before it progresses so far till it is no longer able to be controled as to what might be a terrible out burst of riots across this country of ours.

If you would like Obama to respond as "the accused," then find a prosecutor to accuse him of something. So far, even though the supposed evidence has been out there for months, the criminal justice system has shown not a single iota of interest in bringing charges.

Do folks really believe that state departments of Vital Statistics store millions of paper birth certificates in archives, rather than computerized lists of Vital Statistics which can be accessed when requested and a certificate generated to document what the list says about a particular individual?
If I want to prove that I was born in the USA to someone, I can only request a paper Statement from my home state, not an actual copy of some piece of paper they have stored. Maybe its different in Georgia?

The Farah comments that you quote also include the strange statement that the Certification of Live Birth "doesn't answer the key questions as to whether Obama was indeed born in Hawaii," echoing other internet postings that claim that the COLB only certifies that his birth was registered in Hawaii, not that he was born there.
Conveniently unmentioned is the fact that, under "CITY, TOWN OR LOCATION OF BIRTH," the COLB clearly says "HONOLULU."
