This statue of Eros, the Greek god of love, was likely dedicated at a sanctuary, in honor of the gods. "It's so quiet that you don't think of it as so radical, but actually it's very rare and unusual to show a god sleeping," notes curator Seán Hemingway.

The bronze statue of Eros sleeping was created in seven sections that were later joined together. View an animation and additional photographs to get a glimpse of the process.
