82nd & Fifth: SNAPSHOT by Marsha Hill

Statues such as this were used in domestic contexts, in little house shrines. This example depicts two men holding hands; one of them draws a boy, possibly his son, close to him. "You start saying, 'Who were they, and what are their personalities?'" says curator Marsha Hill.

Look at a light-induced near infrared luminescence image of the statue.
