Despite the cold, you can take a 100-mile, weeklong bike-packing tour in a little known range of mountains near the Arctic Circle. White Mountains National Recreation Area is run by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, and is best traveled during the winter months. Along the trail, there are rustic log cabins where you can stay to break up your trip. Being over an hour from the nearest town, there is little to no light pollution, making amazing opportunities to view Aurora Borealis!

Matt & Agnes Hage are avid adventurers who like to be moving, hopefully on a trail through the mountains or behind the wheel of some beat-up travel van.
