Massive protests as Revolutionary Guard consolidates power, likely to expand economic control.
Paul Jay speaks to Babak Yektafar, Editor-in-Chief of washingtonprisom.org about the protests in reaction to the Iranian election results. Yektafar speaks of the power in Iran being in the hands of the Revolutionary Guard, and says that, "in the past five or six years we have seen a major step forward by this entity. They gained immense economic power... [and now] they've gotten more and more involved in the politics of the Islamic regime. They're extremely sensitive to guarding their interests."

When low level members of a group have gold, scrambled eggs, or silvery braid on the visors or bills of their caps, it's a sign that the group has lost its power. CN Parkinson could have created another 1 of his laws & expressed if far better then I did.
Parkinson added much to the study of failed, impotent groups.
Excellent post.
I'll take something that Mr Yektafar said a step further: The Revolutionary Guard, in fact, started forming even before Khomeini returned from exile to assume power. Deserters from the Shah's armed forces joined numerous civilians donning helmets and wielding rifles, sworn to fight for the Revolution, which at the time was still ill-defined.
And the point of this post is?
The Pentagon is in charge of our government at the scale of nearly $600 billion, what's the freaken differance?
