NEW YORK...Hillary and Bill Clinton announced today that they are forming a new political party to continue her fight for the presidency. Seeking to draw comparisons with Theodore Roosevelt's 'Bull Moose', the new party will be called 'Surly Eris' for the Greek Goddess of discord and strife. According to the press release, the party will "cater to the perceived slights and accumulated frustrations harbored by women of a certain age and Lanny Davis."

Speculation that Clinton would be placed on the Democratic ticket ended earlier in the day when representatives for Barack Obama refused her demand that he do all his campaigning in an open top limousine. Said a visibly indignant Harold Ickes, "Would we have liked Obama to be capable of enjoying pleasant weather? You bet your ass."

Meanwhile, longtime Clinton friend and bagman Terry McAuliffe stressed that the new party would be open to "anyone with resentments and a credit card" including "honest, hard working Americans who just happen not to like blacks."

When pressed by reporters on how Senator Clinton had managed to squander every institutional advantage in her descent from inevitability to runner-up, spokesman Howard Wolfson decried "this endless media fascination with the factual" adding "this isn't about who won what how, this is about something far more important, the future of the Clintons".

Just when things were starting to calm down in here just a bit you guys just had to start some more confusion with this post. LOL

Whatever! Certainly it clearly shows some people really believe television advertisements and political sound bites.

That is scary. A dollar and a tv ad might make someone emperor for life.

Thanks for the good laugh. I offer the following for those of you who've thought about leaving the party because your candidate has lost. I first got involved in Democratic politics by working in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nebraska for Eugene McCarthy in 1968. I ended up being tear gassed in Grant Park and when I went back to school, I worked in Harold Hughes' successful campaign for the U.S. Senate.

The party's presidential nominee ended up being Hubert Humphrey. Many of us were bitter about the primaries, the nomination, the experience in Chicago, and the war. Millions of us sat out that presidential election, thereby helping Richard Nixon win by a few hundred thousand votes. I regret it to this day. Humphrey was an honorable, compassionate, and decent man who would have been an extraordinary President. Can you imagine what a difference it would have made to the country and the world if we'd gotten over ourselves and helped elect Humphrey?

I understand the disappointment that many of Hillary Clinton's supporters must be feeling. I urge you not to make the mistake that so many of us made in 1968. The stakes are simply too high this time to do anything but put Democrats back into The White House...the House...and the Senate. We need to move forward and take out country back.

Love to put a Democratic Party nominee in the WH but I believe he is not good. That is my dilemma. If it were John Edwards, I would be more than happy, not because he is white and obama is black. Just don't know his platform is. Is he going to take Clinton's platform and call it his? Is he going to take Edwards platform and call them his? So what is his platform? See I still don't know. When McCain said, 100 years in Iraq, I hear it as he was opining that if situation has not improved, we could be there for 100 years. That is different from he wants to be there for 100 years. Obama camp is just like Bush camp. Bush ran on change too, moral change. Obama will be beholden to party elders. I do not buy this money from lobbyists. I think the fledger incident was staged. DNC asked him to resign from his church before they could support him. He then asked his buddy Rev Wright to help, got hold of father Pfledger to say outrageous things. Obama looks great in the eyes of the Americans. I think the family is still with the Church. This is what I don't see Obama as a good steward for my country! Alternative: Vote McCain and then vote for Democratic Congress. We will then have good results. Obama could not change the country .

Many accuse Hillary of thinking she's entitled. Your hypocrites. If you worked at a job for years and an upstart steps in and takes the job you were in line for, you would feel the same.
I'm a registered indie and don't care about parties. I care about the country. Rep. Clyburn said on Tuesday he was supporting Obama because it was the best thing for the party. What about what's best for the USA? Obama is going to lose because of his association with questionable types. Haven't Dem's noticed what Hillary's done in the last 10 primaries? McCain will win OH, PA, FL, TX, MI, NY?, the South & West? But Dem's can't see it because they're in love. That's why they elected Bush twice. Hillary Clinton isn't a likable candidate, but she's the most qualified. Most Americans vote like a pendulum. Last time they voted for ultra- conservative guy they liked. Now they're voting for an opposite. He's the most liberal senator who has a habit of not showing up for critical votes.
The problems we face can be traced to the power of the parties. They should be abolished. If most Americans analyzed candidates on merit instead of likeability, we'd elect Joe Biden. Hillary should'nt beg for the VP slot. She should announce she'll run as an independent. The media has fallen in love with Obama and given him a pass. Just like they did with Bush. I've lost respect for Americans. I've lost hope for America.

Together with Mark Penn, James Carville, Harold Ickes, Paul Begala and Lanny Davis, Hillary and Bill Clinton have already formed a third party - The Sour Grapes Party.

No Liebermann was Gore's pick.

Now they keep floating a lot of faux moderate conservatives as Obama's pick. After all, Liebermann was Obama's senate mentor.

Their first order of business will be to draft the Persona Non Grata. In Latin, literally "an unwelcome person."

It's proponents herald it as a departure from the Magna Carta "or, The Great Paper", allowing protracted appeals against logic and reason, and purloining of goodwill as a means of invoking, contesting or perpetuating lineal claims to feudal power.

I hear that SNL is devoting its entire show to the Hillary (non) concession speech, live from the basement of Baruch College. The concession should take all of -1 minute.

I can't wait for Jon Stewart and Colbert tonight and SNL this weekend.

Somehow this would have been funnier as an SNL News skit, but it still gets a Two Chuckle rating from me. Though, if we hammer Hillary for a supposed reference to RFK's assassination we probably shouldn't be laughing at a reference to JFK's ("open top limousine"), especially on the day that Sen. Obama appoints his daughter to his VP screening committee.

I think there are "sore losers rules" in many states that would stop Senator Clinton to do such a thing.

It's true though, as we've all seen in Michigan and Florida, that rules are not something Senator Clinton think is for herself.

let her run and you go vote for her. all the threats of voting for McCain if Hillary's not the nominee or she should start her own third party are downright laughable. This is a free country and you and Hillary are free to do whatever you choose. Just as the rest of us have the right to choose who we vote for and it's obviously not for Hillary.

What a great Job you've done over the past eight years with your vote. I think your going to top your record with another Eight. loser years. I hope by then you will realize your role in that loss. I believe there is no way Obama can win. If I'm wrong ill come back and and eat my words

Seeing how hes already shown through both delegates and popular vote (when you actually count ALL 50 states, and the territories), your numbers are laughable.

More appropriate is something like McCain 45, Obama 25, Clinton 23, with wild cards for those that are left.

The only thing this accomplishes is that it shows that she truly wants to run in 2012 and to do so Obama must be defeated. If this is, in fact, her ploy, she wouldn't blatantly expose it by running as independent - she instead would be subversive in more covert ways.
