New Tom Marino Ad Whacks Rep. Chris Carney

Republican Tom Marino has come under fire for claiming to have been given written permission from the U.S. Justice Department to serve as a reference for a convicted felon whom he later worked for after resigning as a U.S. Attorney. Shortly after his opponent, incumbent Chris Carney, began airing an ad demanding that Marino produce this letter, the Associated Press reported that an insider at the DOJ claimed it didn't exist.

After this news broke, Tom Marino's spokesman said that it was unclear whether there was any single document giving Marino permission.

Marino has now deployed an ad claiming that Chris Carney is "waging a negative campaign" and "lying." Watch the ad below:

In other district news, Congressman Carney received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association. "Chris Carney is a solid defender of the Second Amendment who will stand up for the rights of gun owners in Pennsylvania", said Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF.

"As an avid hunter, gun owner and sportsman, I could not be more pleased to receive this endorsement," said Congressman Carney in a statement. "I strongly believe in protecting our heritage. I come from a family of hunters and am passing that same love of the land and shooting sports on to my children. It is critical we do all we can to protect the Second Amendment and the rights of gun owners nationwide."
