George Soros: I Made Money from the Crisis (VIDEO)

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

After explaining at length in Davos how he foresaw the economic crisis, George Soros says that he made a "pretty good return" from the market turmoil.

Soros did not offer up any investment tips, but the man who broke the Bank of England said he had been once again looking at the pound.

After reading "The Bubble of American Supremacy" during the 2004 U. S. election, I found Mr. Soros to be a man with some good ideas for the planet. I haven't been paying too much attention to his recent efforts but I'm sure he is pleased with today's political climate. He appears to have a genuine concern to make the world a better place. At least he's openly philanthropic, who cares if he can make a profit when not many others are. Where is the balance sheet on Exxon/Mobil's philanthropy? It looked like the interviewer had a genuine disdain for Mr. Soros. As with all media, even this one, we must consider the source and formulate our own opinions.

Anyone remember the Propagandhi controversy? People were all too happy to take Soros's money when he made it available to them, despite his many similarities to those they were mutually interested in opposing.

I'm not quite sure what you're implying.... that he was WRONG to bet on his ability to foresee the future? Give me a break!

This man is a philanthropist and have done much for mankind.

He warned the public a LOOOOOOOONG time ago... but who listens to reason in america when Britney may walk out of her house without panties.

"After explaining at length in Davos how he foresaw the economic crisis, George Soros says that he made a "pretty good return" from the market turmoil."

- George Soros is a Financial speculator. It's what he does for a living.
- George Soros is a macro-theme investor. He does research and makes bets from that research.
- After making his bets, he has the right to express his opinions. If his opinions prove to be correct and the market rewards him for his ability to use his mind to uncover logical flaws before you, he is entitled to his rewards.
Test - if his thesis prove false, he loses his money.

In a free and open society he is acting ethically.

Here is a summary of his ethics:
- Do research
- Make bets
- If you guess that your bets will come in and you as a citizen believe that the benefits to you outweigh the damage to your society, then you speak up to EXPOSE the falsehood.

For example, I had a thesis that the financial decisions made by Bush Administration were flawed and would in time destroy the economy. I make bets and I express my opinion of "please don't do this" do not support this man or his party.' I was paid for my bets and my thesis proved correct.

On what basis would I owe "you" something?

I wonder if anyone else out there is curious as to how George Soros' business is entangled with his politics? If he bets against the US, and then makes sure that the political party he backs leads us over the cliff.... anyone else concerned? Could make an interesting documentary if anyone in the MSM cared.

What your suggesting is incredibly complicated and unlikely that one person could actually pull off such a stunt. It's more likely he studied the lay of the land, and understood how ideology would drive policies and markets over a cliff. I have no problem with how he made his money.

Did his hedge funds- with their huge leverage- short-sell the market, driving it into its frozen state, way beyond fear and panic? Did he help cause the market collapse so he could make a killing? I'm just asking.

Have you lost your mind? Soros is worth about $10 billion. Madoff stole five times Soros wealth, and it was still a drop in the bucket of the 3 - 4 trillion lost in the last 3 months. No one man could do this, this was the result of un-regulated greed run amok by thousands and thousands of people.

The credit default swap market, before the collapse that brought down tons of banks, was sixty trillion dollars. That's trillion with a T. Compared to that, everything else is small potatoe.

George Soros is a "Rothschild insider" and he is one of the elites who create the crises around the world. Every single thing he does, primarily involving currency manipulation, is predicated on being part of the plan. He is the ultimate insider and his game is world control through his "Open Society", which is based on the Trotsky-ish writings of Karl Popper.

Then why not address this problem and put controls in place. After all we have the power.

I wish we had more George's like this one, not like the past king george in the white house.

Yep, and I work for one of those "organizations he supports;" the best organization I've ever worked with, in fact. Why? Because we actually help people and we do great advocacy work. We wouldn't be able to do nearly as much as we do without Soros' funding.

He's not God, but he's not the devil either.

You will never persuade people with baseless statements.
