Congressman John Hall Speaks

What's Your Reaction:

Congressman John Hall's fundraiser at Cat Rock in Garrison, New York was an occasion for him to vent on the disgraceful conduct of large insurance companies, particularly Prudential. Prudential is cheating the families of deceased Veterans by keeping 3/4 of the interest earnings on veterans' death benefits from the families. In addition, insurance companies are giving millions in donations to PACs, some to defeat John Hall, since they realize Hall plans to hold Congressional hearings on this conduct after the election. Mr. Hall has already been endorsed by the VFW's Political Action Committee. Please write to Prudential's chairman, John Strangfeld, about this revolting business practice.

Hall then told a charming story about meeting Bob Marley back in the day and how Marley marveled at how fast he played guitar (with Orleans) while Hall marveled at how slow Marley played. Hall then serenaded the crowd with the Marley classic "The Harder They Come, The Harder They Fall".

John Hall has been a great & tireless representative for NY's 19 Congressional district, especially in veteran’s affairs, standing tall for returning wounded vets, seeing they get the well-deserved care they earned, and he deserves re-election. John’s environmental record has also been strong to protect the people of NY; he is a strong advocate of returning the Hudson River to its beauty & commercial advantages. After years of lock-step Republican rule in the 19th that catered to the wealthy over average folks, John has been a breath of fresh air, bringing bi-partisan representation to us all. We should not throw-out his record of commitment to our district; especial in veteran’s affairs, to go back to the old model of divisive representation, & all who live in the 19th should get active in supporting him, working and volunteering for his re-election. Even if he has perhaps not done all some of us wished, & that is the way of today’s politics, he stands head & shoulders above his opponent & is a man of commitment & high integrity.

His opponent is an MD, although she tellingly does not use that appellation in her campaign, and we should know where her allegiance lies, with for-profit health care industry and not average people's needs and real health care reform. We cannot afford to go back to further empowerment of the rich and powerful at the expense of the bi-partisan and committed representation that John Hall brings to us all in the 19th.
