Spend a Moment with Dr. King

Remembering Dr. King is important, but only insofar as we continue to embrace the core tenets of his message.

The importance of this day cannot be overstated. It is, perhaps, the one day that is put aside as a simple celebration of love and tolerance. (I suppose Christmas is about much the same thing, but too often that message gets lost beneath a pile of Playstations, aftershave, and American Girl dolls.)

I encourage anyone reading this to go here where Alexandra Ringe has placed a link to King's incredible speech given on June 17, 1962, at Zion Hill Church in Los Angeles.

Take a few minutes and just listen.

Remembering Dr. King is important, but only insofar as we continue to embrace the core tenets of his message. We have come a long way since he spoke these words, but listening to him it's easy to see how far we still have to go.

So, if you can, spend some time with this. It's important. It's powerful. And it's good.
