This image is printed in 14", 20", 30 and 50" sizes. I had taken a trip to Italy and wanted to recreate a contemporary image that mimicked Michelangelo's Pieta statue. I set up the shot in the studio and tried shooting the two models together in one shot⦠"Jesus" was too heavy for "Mary" to hold and also dwarfed her in size. I had to shoot them separately and combine them digitally. I read that Michelangelo had reduced Jesus in size (in relation to Mary) to fit his composition.
