The Third Reich Rises for Prop 8 (Video)

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

At a recent Prop 8 rally Brad Dacus, an official campaign spokesman, actually compared the right of same-sex couples to marry to the rise of Adolph Hitler and Nazi Germany.

This insanity needs to stop. Prop 8 needs to be defeated. It's wrong. It's unfair. The people supporting it are fanatical, intolerant and willing to do and say anything to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry.

If anything it is the other way around. Hitler would've dreamt up Prop 8 to deny rights!

On the other hand Jesus who is about love would support two people to love eachother I would imagine.

Please Vote No On Prop 8! In the name of Sanity, Respect, Honor, and Equality!

This pretty much sums up Brad Dacus.

Comparing Civil Rights laws to laws on same sex marriage is NOT faulty. Both deal with discrimination. It wasn't that long ago that interracial couples couldn't marry.

Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967). In Loving v. Virginia the Supreme Court of the United States held that laws prohibiting interracial marriage violate the equal protection clause and the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Richard Loving, a white man, and Mildred Jeter, an African American woman, were arrested when they returned to Virginia following their marriage in Washington, D.C. They were convicted for violating Virginia's anti-miscegenation laws, which made the marriage "between a white person and a colored person a felony." Virginia's anti-miscegenation laws, however, did not formally ban marriage between any other races. The trial courts and the Supreme Court of Virginia had upheld the Lovings' convictions.

The CIVIL marriage license issued by a state has NO bearing on any religious ceremony. The First Amendment of the Constitution would prevent anyone from bringing a lawsuit against any church that refused to marry same sex-couples.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that expressly prohibits the United States Congress from making laws "respecting an establishment of religion" or that prohibit the free exercise of religion," among other rights.

I'm glad this guy brought up the Nazis....they also persecuted homosexuals. I honestly don't understand how this guy can reason that allowing gay marriage would make America like Fascist Germany...where they shoved homosexuals into concentration camps and performed experiments on them. In fact, it is the opposite...by passing Prop 8 this furthers the persecution of homosexuals in this country and legitimizes unfair treatment.

Maybe we should wear pink triangles to show the disgusting absurdity of this "Reductio ad Hitlerum." Comparing the Pro 8 campaign with the fight against Nazi is not only insulting to everybody who fought the Nazis but also historically ignorant on many counts: (1) Homosexuals were murdered by the Nazis (that's where the pink triangle came from!) and (2) Most, if not all, churches were supportive of the Nazis.

The guy in this video is scary! Vote no on 8...
And please check out my 'No on Prop 8' video. It's only 1-min. & makes a really good point about bigotry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXbzb-TdYPs

Why is virtually no one SCREAMING how the civil rights of men, women, parents, and children should have N-E-V-E-R been allowed to be decided by popular vote? Yet we "allowed" it.

Heterosexuals, your silence is akin to violence to our families. What....too harsh? You must not be aware of our stories; why else would you allow such a hateful, religiously-biased, ANTI-American process like PROP 8?

Nazi comparisons? Is INACTION an act of violence if other families are hurt by the inaction?

Yes, too harsh! We are NOT silent!

All voices to this cause are sincerely appreciated.

But, if these voices have been vocal for the past 30 years, WHY has there been virtually NO PROGRESS in US law? Perhaps words without effective actions are useless. I'm asking, here. Perhaps joining together in a National Gay Tax Protest would stir the politicians enough to be PRO-ACTIVE and include the LGBT commuity in the nation's laws NOW. NOW.

Of should I wait until I'm 70-80 years old before I can marry the person I love?

I completely agree...What are civil liberties being put to a popular vote? That has always been my question since day 1!

Should we go back and let the people vote on bringing back slavery, as well as other oppressions minority groups have faced?

YES! WHY?!?

The US Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia that made all state laws banning interracial marriage unconstitutional was never brought before a popular vote.

So then WHY was this California supreme court ruling up for a popular vote?!?

When are sane people going to start realizing who the Nazi's and Fascists are represented by in this country? This is classic projection, the man is probably fighting his own homosexuality. Sociopaths have no empathy, they blame others for their actions and take no responsibility for their actions.

Nailed it, esp. about projection. How ironic he would equate gay marriage with the rise of Hitler and the Nazis, since Hitler was thought to be a closet homosexual who equally persecuted gays along with Jews (classic projection). I'd equate the anti-gay movement more with Nazism than gay marriage.

This is just the beginning. If Prop 8 passes, the religious right nutcases of the U.S. will work hard on chipping away at the rest of the civil rights gay and lesbian people have secured.

Nazi Germany? Absolutely. But they have the sides reversed.

P.S. Criminalizing birth control is next. Just take a look at what's happening in CO with amendment 48.

Ignorant Christians concern me to no end.

Is this guy insinuating that the Hitler Germany was / would have been pro-gay / gay marriage with his rhetoric of the church failing to act then and shouldn't fail now? I am extremely confused trying to follow his logic, when the fact is that the Nazi's were as anti-gay as you could get. Homosexuals were treated similarly to Jews and were experimented on, in hope to cure these German men's diseases.

What concerns me the most is the ignorance of the crowd, their willingness to cheer for any argument thrown upon them regardless of how faulty of a logic it follows. The lack of motivation to think for themselves. Because with that attitude, what is the point of having a "democracy"? If people can't think for themselves, what is the point of voting for themselves?
