Where Do We Set the "Restore" System Date?

At what point did our financial system stop producing real value and started selling soap bubbles? Can you quote any far-sighted individuals who saw all this coming?

Many computer operating systems now allow you to regularly backup your programs and files. When you install a new program the operating system notes the new program and -- if the worst happens and your computer melts down -- allows you to "Restore" your computer to the point before the crash.

So here's a simple question for the Huff Post readers...

How fr back do we have to reset our financial system before the corrupt files and non-working programs of the double-dealer, inside-traders and chopped up derivatives salesmen were "installed"? 2006? 2000? 1987? 1930?

In other words -- at what point did our financial system stop producing real value and started selling soap bubbles? Can you quote any far-sighted individuals who saw all this coming? It's time we remembered what they said and when.
