Do you want to know the secret to attaining a life of intention? Want to fast track your goals and desires? Itching to make a decision but don't know how to go about it? Then stop dreaming, and start writing! Yes, I said it! Get yourself a good old fashioned pen and paper and journal your way to good health, that new promotion, and inner peace and contentment.

Journaling is no longer just for that confused adolescent girl who spends her evenings contemplating the meaning of life. No, it's an effective form of therapy from the eternal optimist all the way to the perpetual pessimist. Here are four reasons why writing down your thoughts can help move you closer to your ideal life:

1. Give your mind a break. Your mind is constantly bogged down with thoughts, the replaying of recent events (much of which your mind can remember incorrectly as time goes on) and past experiences. Clear your mind by writing down your thoughts, feelings and plan of action. When you give yourself time for reflection, you can make sense of them in a strategic way. Best of all? You allow yourself the opportunity to start controlling your thoughts, instead of your thoughts controlling you.

2. Become a better decision maker. Every day, you're bombarded with a dozen or more decisions that you have to make, urgently. Have you ever started to doubt your decision making at some point? Journaling your feelings can bring about a method to your madness. Once you start to get those potential decisions down on paper, the right answer can become clear. Also, good decisions that were in your head may start to look like not-so-good decisions once you actually get them down on paper. Either way, journaling can allow you to learn to listen to your 'gut' instincts, and hone in on your inner voice, which is your greatest tool for decision making.

3. Gratitude = Good Attitude. Journaling can allow you the time and space to reflect on all the good that has happened in your life. Acknowledging and being grateful for all the good in your life actually brings more good your way. This simple practice is one of the most effective and powerful tools on the journey to self-improvement.

4. It's a Morale Booster. Let's be honest here, life's too busy for you to consciously remember how awesome you are. Taking just ten minutes a day to write down what traits, unique perspectives, and life experiences you've had that make you...perfectly you. Bonus? When you journal, you get to boast about yourself as much as you want. So, don't hold back now! Write down how awesome you are and achieve an instant confidence boost, which is just what you need to do more at work, live a happier home life and reach for the stars!

Perspective is everything, so think of your new found journaling habit as your ticket to the express train of a life of fulfillment. When you journal, you write out how you want your life to go. Now grab that pen and paper and CREATE!
