As the years tick by, while American politicians hem and haw, and American people look away, these stranded prisoners age.
The president remains eager to keep Guantanamo Bay up and running.
Unfortunately, not all Americans have experienced the benefits of Gitmo equally.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
There was never any excuse for Guantánamo.
"There is simply no justification beyond politics for the Congress’ insistence on keeping the facility open," the president told lawmakers Thursday.
If the final transfers go according to plan, only about 40 prisoners will remain at Guantanamo.
