Nathan Bedford Forrest Day recognizes a man known as a Confederate general, slave trader and white supremacist leader.
The day of observation calls on Tennesseans to honor Nathan Bedford Forrest, a slave-owning war criminal and Klan grand wizard.
“I fired both shots that killed my husband,” Malissa Ancona said of the 2017 shooting of Frank Ancona in Missouri.
Ten years is the maximum sentence for the offense.

“When politicians attack courts as ‘dangerous,’ ‘political’ ... you can hear the Klan’s lawyers, assailing officers of the court across the South,” said U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves.

The group is suspending the membership of Goodloe Sutton's newspaper, after he wrote an editorial arguing it was “time for the Ku Klux Klan to night ride again."
The University of Southern Mississippi removed Goodloe Sutton's name from its journalism hall of fame after the racist editorial.
“We’ll get the hemp ropes out, loop them over a tall limb and hang all of them,” the author of the piece said.
