The president denied something that was never reported ― that he abruptly visited the hospital in November due to a series of mini-strokes.
"For any man of that age and medical history, an unexpected visit to the hospital is concerning,” the neurosurgeon stated in a CNN piece.
The president "did not undergo any specialized cardiac or neurologic evaluation," said Dr. Sean Conley.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said the president received "routine checkups as part of his annual exam."
"You touched my soul," the former secretary of state told Army veteran Anthony Maggert, who lost a leg in Afghanistan.
The president's chief economic adviser is expected to "make a full and speedy recovery," the White House said.
The first lady had been recovering at Walter Reed medical center since Monday, when she underwent an embolization procedure to treat the kidney condition.
Brian Mast was inspired to run for a U.S. House seat after losing both his legs in Afghanistan six years ago.
