In addition to gorging on chocolate, champagne, and videos of Zapp and Roger, the editors at the Poetry Foundation are celebrating Valentine's Day with a love poems page. From this mix of classic and contemporary poems, we've been happily surprised with what has received the most attention.

You'd think Shakespeare would be the bard of love this week--or maybe Petrarch for the fancy-- but neither can match Christina Rosetti, June Jordan, or Joshua Beckman for popularity. These poets, along with a few more listed below, are our most popular love poets. Surprise!

Are there other love poems--or love poets--who deserve to some attention this lovely weekend? Do you, like Tao Lin, have suggestions for off-the-beaten-path love lyrics the world should know about? Suggestions (and love notes) are welcome in the comments section.

Here, in order, are the most-read love poems from the Poetry Foundation Love Poems page:

"I Loved You First" by Christina Rossetti

"Flirtation" by Rita Dove

"I Love You" by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

"My Lover Gave Me Green Leaves" by Josephine Dickinson

"Poem for My Love" by June Jordan

"Valentine" by Tom Pickard

"First Poem for You" by Kim Addonizio
