White Actors Again Puzzled by Blacademy Award Snubs

Before even being asked to comment again this year, the Blacademy spokesman whipped out a copy of last year's press release and highlighted: "It's not that white actors weren't good, it's just that there were a lot of great performances by black actors this year."

It was déjà vu all over again, as white baseball great Yogi Berra once put it, as the Blacademy Awards for the second year in a row failed to nominate a single white actor for any of its highest honors. Before even being asked to comment again this year, the Blacademy spokesman whipped out a copy of last year's press release and highlighted: "It's not that white actors weren't good, it's just that there were a lot of great performances by black actors this year."

Most Blacademy members vote on films they have watched on DVDs sent to them by the movie studios. "The truth is, you just can't watch everything," confided one Blacademy member. "And I just didn't get to the white films--not even Carol, which I hear was wonderful."

Still, the Blacademy is unfazed by the tsunami of criticism. "We have a wonderful white host this year," said the Blacademy President. "And a salute to that white actor in Straight Outta Compton. Don't miss it!"
