Defining Obama

Great post...I couldn't agree more. Hopefully, Senator Obama and his top advisors are taking note of his supporters' sentiments.

He definitely needs to come out swinging. (Ugh...another boxing metaphor...but it makes my point.) He can't let Billary define him now (anymore than they already have)...because it will definitely hurt our chances in the fall. posted 04/26/2008 at 03:35:09

Dems On North Carolina GOP Attack Ad: "Racist Gutter Politics"

It's so obvious why the Republicans are running this deplorable ad now...instead of waiting until the general election. THEY WANT TO RUN AGAINST HILLARY...BECAUSE THEY KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN'T STAND THE CLINTONS. A Hillary nomination would rally Republicans and cost Democrats the White House (not to mention down ticket)...in a year when it shoud be ours for the taking.

The Republicans KNOW that if Obama runs away with North Carolina....THERE WILL BE NO MORE DENYING THAT IT'S OVER FOR HILLARY AND HER FILTHY, SELFISH, DIVISIVE CAMPAIGN. They want to bring him down in NC so that Hillary can have "a reason" to carry on with this delusion of hers.

McCain could probably make this go away...if he is really serious about taking the high road in this election. We all know that Hillary won't condemn it. posted 04/24/2008 at 00:28:47

ABC Hosts Heckled After Debate: "The Crowd Is Turning On Me"

A sham of "a debate" like this would never have happened if Peter Jennings were still at the helm of ABC News. It's during election season and times of major breaking news stories like Katrina that his absence is most sorely felt.

Peter's background as a foreign correspondent really served him well on international stories and coverage of foreign policy...especially during 9/11. Unfortunately, I don't see anyone on the horizon on any of the networks that comes close to having his impeccable reporting skills, command of the issues and the anchor desk. And that's too bad for all of us in this election year...when we have so many daunting challenges before us.

We need to be better served by a mainstream media that will proactively cover the problems we face as a country...instead of being led by the blogoshpere. (With all due respect to Huff Post, of course...) Yes, we know the latest gaffes and blunders often make for more compelling television...but at least temper coverage of these kind of stories with more serious, in-depth coverage of meaningful issues. A show like David Gregory's new, hour-long program certainly has time to do both. (We don't need 60 minutes of bloviating by Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan.) With the name "The Road To The White House"...hosted by NBC's White House correspondent...you would think they would want to live up to that moniker.

Is that too much to ask? posted 04/17/2008 at 01:25:19

As Campaign Has Evolved, So Too Has Clinton's Tone

Hillary is the one to blame for the negative direction of this primary.

After Iowa, the Clintons dragged out their bag of dirty tricks. Since then we've witnessed Hillary manipulating with her tears before New Hampshire, Bill playing the race card in South Carolina and both of them whining about caucuses. After Senator Obama's victories in February...leading up to Texas and Ohio, Billary went with the kitchen sink strategy: the plagiarism charge; the "meet me in Ohio" meltdown that triggered NAFTA-gate; her sarcastic "celestial choirs will sing" mocking of Obama; her complaints of unfair treatment by the media; and her infamous 3am phone call ad.

During this time, Obama took the high road. But...after Hillary fooled voters on NAFTA and won the Ohio and Texas primaries, the Obama campaign had to go on the offensive. She left them no choice...especially when the media questioned whether he'd fight back and be tough enough to go against the Republicans in the general election.

Even so, Obama never hit below the belt like Hillary. By praising McCain's record and questioning Senator Obama's ability to serve as Commander-In-Chief, Hillary caused many Democrats to wash their hands of the Clintons once and for all. But Billary even went on to try and stoke doubts about Obama's religion and patriotism.

Hopefully, party elders will rein in the Clintons' nefarious campaign tactics. If not, they and the superdelegates should show them the door and end this charade NOW. posted 04/01/2008 at 02:13:42
