Moving Mom

My wife and I had the same task, although a much different journey. It broke her family into pieces. One of the first signs of Alzhiemers is suspicion. She was convinced that her daughter(wife's sister) was stealing money from her. This led to the family break up. Sadly, we had to put her in care against her will. I will never forget the face of that precious little lady beating the glass door as we left her that first day. It breaks my heart even now. We, as you, were lucky to have the resources to pay for her care. So, so many do not. We have both now taken out long term care insurance. It's terrifying to envision a future like my mother-in-law's. But she was strong through it all till the end. My memories of her are of a smiling face and kind words. Actually, what you speak of as a 'nuclear' option is more precisley a 'daily cutter' option which is much smaller than a nuclear option. The true nuclear option happens when Senator Obama is confirmed by the super delegates as the Democratic nominee. The Clinton camp, after much thought, will declare Senator Obama to be 'illegitimate' because of the 'deal' they will make to seat them in whatever manner is chosen. At this point, nothing is 'off the table' for the Clinton camp. I am increasingly distrubed by the tactis they are employing.
