McCain Has Zero Plan to Get Us Out of Mess President Bush Has Created

The war BUSH created? My good man, you aided and abetted the effort when you voted to give the village idiot war powers. Were it not for that, you would be my first choice for VP on the Obama ticket. What was wrong with all of you dems the day you voted for war with Iraq anyway?? I knew Bush was full of shit and I live way out here in the rural hinterlands. First order of business for empires is to settle up with old enemies...didn't the dems think for a second that Saddam Hussein was a little too convenient target? Some of us who had no inside knowledge saw through BushCo's story. I expected better from you. posted 05/16/2008 at 01:39:09

Lear on the Heath

I saw Obama's unfortunate tendency to apologize instead of standing up for himself when his closet smoking came out. He could have saved himself by saying: "Yes, I smoke. Smoking is LEGAL if you're over 21, in case you don't know. And, by the way, tobacco brings much needed revenue to places like NC , VA, and WV where the soil is too rocky and bare of nutrients to grow anything else."

That approach was honest and would have won him votes from the same rural whites who are attacking him now.

If when the sermons were first thrust out into the media, if Obama had simply stuck up for Reverend Wright's God-Given American Right to speak his mind, he would not be in this position now. Obviously, his pastor feels slighted by Obama's earlier distancing effort, and so he is lashing out at an old friend who he thought would defend him more.

What is really despicable is knowing that someone from Hillary's staff sat at the computer for HOURS at the church's website clicking and searching for something the Reverend said that could be used to smear Obama. Now, that is a disgusting pastime. Someone whose job it is to look for shit to smear. posted 04/29/2008 at 18:19:59

Why Jeremiah Wright Is Willing To Destroy Barack Obama; This Campaign Really Is Generational

The filthy rich have messed up this country for generations to come. I feel sorry for any candidate, republican or democrat, who takes the reins now. Whoever is elected will get the blame for the fallout from Bush policies, and don't you believe for one minute that things have gotten as bad as they will get. Obama would be better off martyredas the black guy whose niomination was stolen by Hillary than to gain the white house and be spun out as the source of all things bad. Even if he wins, he will lose.

I'm voting for Obama anyway, but I see how badly the deck is stacked against him. posted 04/29/2008 at 14:05:58

The rephrasing lost the word NOT. It took me aback as well. It should read: "(Pelosi) has repeatedly suggested that superdelegates should NOT overturn the will of primary voters, a position that sits well with the Obama camp."

The inaccurate paraphrase should sit well with the Hillary camp. They are the ones who are aching to overturn the will of the voters, and if they have to hobble Obama in the process, so be it. If they smear him enough, McCain will get a free pass to victory and Hillary will be shameless enough to claim it proves she was the most electable against McCain all along! Obama Bin Laden?

I was in high school during the Watergate trials. I really didn't understand the scandal, but I knew those guys were unrepentant liars with their "I can't recall" evasions on the stand and I felt outrage that they would flaunt the oath to tell the truth with such disdain while the whole country watched.

A scandal over a burglary ending with a presidential resignation and a pardon shamelessly executed by the handpicked successor. Food Costs Rising Fastest in 17 Years

The Japanese save far more than Americans do, too. Currently, we are in the negative numbers. I've long said that we need an economic event along the lines of the Great Depression to get our financial houses in order, so the tight conditions many are facing now will not be an altogether bad thing. Artificially increasing one's standard of living by living on credit is a dangerous habit which we are only now waking up to realize. Unfortunately, our government has yet to see the light on creating sound fiscal policy. They're still talking the talk, though. posted 04/15/2008 at 22:36:27
