Blue tarps draped over plywood have replaced more than 1 million homes destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Opportunity International has worked in the Philippines since 1981, providing loans, savings programs and business training to help clients break the cycle of poverty and transform their lives. The typhoon affected more than 39,000 of our clients, shattering the security and positive momentum they were building for their families. But we're staying the course and starting again because Filipinos need our support now more than ever.

Media attention will eventually fade, but rebuilding will take years. Opportunity International launched the Philippines Rebuilding Fund to help survivors rebuild their homes, businesses and communities. The money raised will support long-term recovery efforts, including emergency loan assistance to help families replace those blue tarps with shingles, brick and mortar.

See how our clients and staff have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
