It's the halfway point of 2013, and certain travel hot spots have already been pointed out as excellent money-saving destinations, packed with thrilling attractions, entertainment and thriving nightlife. In an infographic addressed to the value-hunting tourist who wants to travel this summer without leaving the States, TurboTax reveals the 2013 top 10 trending destinations for families and students on a budget.

Low accommodation prices, cheap airfare rates and low taxes for meals and drinks make U.S. destinations such as Orlando, Tampa, Las Vegas, Fort Myers and New York City excellent travel hotspots. Also named in the money-saving hotlist are Cancun, Fort Lauderdale, Phoenix, Miami and Los Angeles, all destinations that appeal to different types of visitors, from students to families to baby boomers.
