The past year and a half I have been wanting to write about the economy in an unusual way, through poetry. I am by no means a good poet, but I do find all of this financial drama inspiring. And I wanted to know if any bankers, hedge fund managers and financial wizards were feeling like writing poetry...especially since many of them will have so much spare time on their hands... If any of them want to express their frustration and humiliation out through verse, I would be happy to hear from them.

"How Did I Trust Thee?"

How did I trust thee? Let me count the ways.
For 'twas the brilliance of the slight of hand which amazed.

You did nimble and cajole amongst the Montauk set.
Sitting up straight, even your own wife did not see.
There was everything but dignity.

Greed, pure and simple.
Yours, reflecting our own.

How many years did you play us?

A floor which does not exist.
A desk where numbers did not care.
Of course, you loved the virtual nature of it all.
Because you knew, there was no there there.

Beyond the de Koonings,
And the treasures no one saw,
Was an empty vase.
No flower ever graced.
Those windowless interiors.
The floor where no sun did shine.

Like a Shakespearean tragedy
You have slain your sons.
You have defiled your faith.

I was your caddie you see.
Thirty years ago.
You gave me the golden wink.
I invested my life and soul to thee.

You said saw yourself in me.
You, once a lifeguard. Savings lives.
Now we are drowning, all together.
No one to save us.
