Facing up to eight years in prison for tax evasion, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer is denying any wrongdoing and saying “I have to fight for what I believe.”
Charged with evading taxes in Spain from 2012 to 2014, the singer denied qualifying as a resident. "I have to fight for what I believe," she said.
The pop star could get eight years and two months in prison, if she is convicted in her expected trial for alleged tax fraud.
The singer is accused of defrauding Spain’s government of $15 million in taxes.

“OK, and imagine what J.Lo would have said if I was the third [performer]!” the “Conga!” singer said.
In her Netflix documentary "Halftime," the music superstar talks about her frustrations over the time constraints of 2020's co-headlining performance.
"For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy."
The decision paves the way for a trial after a judge previously concluded there was enough evidence to suggest the pop star may have avoided her fiscal obligations to the state.
