Texas, God, and Gay Marriage

Maybe, just maybe, do these events show how asinine it is to make statements connecting God's supposed wrath against gay marriage to a disaster in the first place?

Texas has been hit with some pretty devastating floods. Texas officials have also filed a record number of anti-gay bills, and have apparently revived a bill to defy the Supreme Court of the United States should they rule in favor of gay marriage. Now, more often than not, whenever there is some natural or man-made disaster, you have one or more Christian Conservatives ranting on and on about how that disaster was actually caused by God in his anger that gay marriages were being accepted; yet Texas is fighting harder against gay rights and marriage equality for LGBT people than any other state (with the possible exception of Alabama).

So, what can we conclude from these events? Has God changed his mind? Is God punishing Texas for their treatment of his gay children? Or maybe, just maybe, do these events show how asinine it is to make statements connecting God's supposed wrath against gay marriage to a disaster in the first place?
