Lawyer says Jon Gosselin ordered to return $180K

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — Jon Gosselin has been ordered to return $180,000 in marital funds by Oct. 26, according to a lawyer for his estranged wife. Kate Gosselin, meanwhile, must provide an accounting of past expenses by the same date, lawyer Mark Momjian said. And an arbitrator will review another $55,000 she says she spent on household and child-related expenses.

The divorcing stars of TLC's "Jon and Kate Plus 8" appeared briefly in family court Tuesday in the Philadelphia suburb of Norristown. The couple have eight young children – twins and sextuplets.

According to Momjian, Montgomery County Judge Arthur R. Tilson ordered Jon Gosselin to return the money or face contempt charges for violating an arbitrator's order.

"As difficult as this has been for me, I am pleased that the court has ruled fairly on behalf of myself and my children," Kate Gosselin said in the statement her lawyer released. "Now that this matter has been ruled on, I look forward to returning to private arbitration, as we have agreed to do, to resolve any remaining issues."

Jon Gosselin's lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, released a statement saying there was no proof that the $55,000 was used for family expenses.

"It may very well be determined that very substantial sums of money which Kate has failed to account for might have been misapplied and misused by Kate," Heller said.

"As of now, Jon Gosselin chooses to give Kate the benefit of doubt," Heller said.

TLC is renaming the show "Kate Plus Eight." Jon Gosselin has sent the network a cease-and-desist letter, saying he believes the filming is harmful to the children.

Now the 22 year old girlfriend will drop him because he is no longer a sugar daddy. Seriously, getting the Court involved in the Gosselin's finances is the best thing that could have happened for the kids. Neither parent can be trusted to oversee their childrens' financial holdings (if such even exist).

Get off Jon's case. He is 32 years old, has been married for 10 years and has been abused by Kate for those 10 years. For those of you who are now getting to know Jon & Kate + 8, go back and watch all the old shows and you will see how Jon was ill treated. Just imagine how he was treated when the cameras were not rolling.
Kate is money hungry and said there is no going back to regular life for her. Her care is all about the money. She has no relationship with her own family, so her children have no contact with their grand parents, aunts, uncles nor cousins. The children need to get off the show. They are all in school and Kate is a nurse and Jon an IT professional. They should both get jobs in their chosen fields to support their kids. They are not the only parents with 8 kids. They were 10 kids in our family and we grew up fine with professions. GET OFF TV KATE.

I think Jon bitter and acting irrationally, wonder what his legal counsel is telling him? He needs to get a job, be quiet (stay out of the press) and do his share in caring for the 8 children. I would think with the show income, books, personal appearances, there would be plenty of money to go around, Kate's at the grocery store, Jons out & about town. Cutting off Kate's income with the show only harms his children, how ridiculous to say it's hurting his children the minute they drop him when he took the money & ran for 3-4 years! If they both stop badgering each other in the press, less harm will come to the kids! I always felt Kate was harsh (disrespectful) with Jon but that's probably because Kate felt like she had 9 kids at times.

Y'know, Kate has received oodles of bad press for her being a control freak, anal, etc. etc. etc. But, I think Jon may be needing to put up or shut up. First he says he never took the money... then the Court tells him he must return the money he says he did not take. Right. Then, he makes some argument that Kate could not possibly have spent $55,000 on child and support related needs. Something tells me that Kate... the controlling, anal retentive, mega-obsessive wife (according to Jon and others) may well be hoarding reams of documentation of the expenses. It just wouldn't be like such a control freak NOT to have such documentation. So... she may have not always have been super nice to him... but I've gotten the feeling for quite a long time now that there were reasons for her hostility... and those reasons weren't shown on camera.

Amen. The reasons for her hostility maybe the conduct and behavior of Jon that wasn't caught on camera. This guy has brought 4 European Cars. They have the future of 8 kids to think about and he's brought 4 cars. I think he was spending money like a drunken sailor and she was pissed about it all the time. I've been there. She was probably swallowing a lot of stuff just to keep things going. My ex could not function financially when my marriage ended. I think Jon's troubles are just beginnning.
