I go to school in Amherst, Massachusetts. An area with five colleges no more than a few miles between each other. Each college has a unique and diverse student body. Having heard so much talk about the youth vote and young apathy over the last few months, I decided to photograph and interview a collection of student voters in my area. The interviewees came largely from partisan political organizations at the five colleges. Although these voters represent very politically active people within this age group, their answers shed light upon what motivates students to participate in the electoral system. Their politics are influenced by a range of factors: family, environment, personal backgrounds and social identities.
