Study Finds That Women Feel Really Fab at 31: What Happens After?

What's Your Reaction:

Ladies, it's no secret -- we were all awkward between the ages of 7 and 12. Come 13, we started to develop into women. At 16, we cultivated a bit of an attitude (Sorry, mom!). And from 18 on, we began to find "ourselves." In our 20s, we came into our own, figured out who we are (hopefully) and became real women.

When 30 came, some of us panicked -- myself included. But in retrospect, there's so much to love about being three decades old. In fact, some say women reach their sexual peak in their 30s. (Hey now!) If that's accurate, this study checks out: A survey by TV shopping channel QVC found that 37 percent of women were most confident about their looks at age 31.

Surprisingly, among the 2,000 men and women surveyed, most rejected the "fresh-faced" look in favor of the more "mature" face in their late 20s and 30s. (Yes! I'm 30, FYI.) If this holds true, actresses Katie Holmes and Jennifer Love Hewitt must be feeling pretty amazing right now. (They're 31.)

But wait -- what happens in our 40s?

In your forties men stop laughing at your jokes, gaping at your astute insights, and fawning over you in general. ( unless you've actually decided to get yourself a personality ) And the wheel it goes round and round, and the painted ponies go up and down.

In your 40s you have even more sexual power and confidence. In your 50s you have lines but if you have brains and character you don't care. Many women hit another sexual peak here, because they're so confident and the kids are gone. Now the only argument with their sexual partner is about whose turn it is to play the slave girl. You go thru menopause and become reinvigorated in so many ways, wondering what is next, now that I'm not raising a family anymore or feeling like I have to kiss the @$$ of men and society in general. In your sixties, God, I can only imagine how fine that's going to be, with the calmness and assurance of having been there, done that, what's new?
The thing that is best for you right now, in your 30s, is that your physical appearance and stamina are at a peak according to American standards, and I hope you look in the mirror and feel thrilled! But trust me, the mental muscle you will gain from a couple more decades of growth? It's true freedom, and it is awesome! I write about it on my blog at www.AnyShinyThing.com. Best wishes!
