Americans waste one trillion gallons of water a year. In the effort to create a single hamburger we use 600 gallons of water. Thanks to wasteful processes like this Americans use way more water than we all realize but we're not just wasting water. Wasting water also means wasting raw materials, fossil fuels, chemical treatment materials, and much more.

Activist and adventurer Rob Greenfield thinks we can manage our water better. In his new series, "Sustainable Living", Rob shows that we can manage our water consumption and create an incredibly minimal impact as long as we're conscious. In his travels across America, Rob made a commitment to reducing his water waste by living off a leaky fire hydrant in New York for five days.

Like Rob we can #BeTheChange by altering the way we use water. You can start today by making a habit out of water conservation. Right now, much of freshwater is being returned to its source full of pollution. But you don't have to live like Rob to save water. You can adopt a plant based diet, wash your clothes less often, flush your toilet less, and turn off that dang faucet! If Rob can live off a leaky fire hydrant for 5 days, surely we can do better.

Every Friday for the next 3 weeks we'll be featuring the next episode of Rob's Sustainable Living series. Be sure to follow along here on Outspeak, and subscribe to Rob's YouTube channel.
