On August 11th, 2012 head up to Miller Park for the world premiere of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight documentary: Field of Honor: A Salute to the Greatest Generation. Heck, feel free to even wear your red, white and blue Cubs gear... we will all be cheering for the same people on this night.
This once-in-a-generation event will bring together thousands of World War II veterans and veterans from other conflicts, their families, friends and communities. The event will feature the SSHF documentary on the Miller Park high-definition video board, a special viewing of the model of the WWII Memorial en route to the Smithsonian and conclude with stadium fireworks and a flyover. Rising star Grace Weber and other phenomenal performances are planned!

What is Honor Flight?
World War II veterans are dying at the rate of one every 90 seconds and Honor Flight is racing against the clock to honor them. Honor Flight flies veterans, at no cost to them, to Washington D.C. to see their war memorials. For many of the vets, this is the last chapter of their lives... for some, it is their final paragraph.
When a veteran leaves us, they take their stories of history and enormous bravery with them. In a decade, there will be no more WWII veterans left to honor... hence the urgency and the importance of the Honor Flight mission.
Stars and Stripes Honor Flight has successfully completed 14 Honor Flights to Washington, D.C. flying over 2.000 veterans from southeast Wisconsin since the fall of 2008. Wisconsin Honor Flights have flown nearly 5,000 veterans! All net proceeds from Field of Honor will ensure that these Honor Flights continue... there are currently 475 veterans on the SSHF wait list.
