LA Dining Deals and Events: November 7-13

What passes for fall is in the air here in Southern California. And to help us pretend that we have seasons, Culver City's Saint Amour is offering a menu of cold weather Gallic favorites.

Monday

Many of us might not have the chance to visit Momofuku Milk Bar, where sugar-and-junk-food-obsessed pastry chef Christina Tosi serves dishes like her fabled (and controversial) Crack Pie. But you catch Tosi today at The Mandrake Bar (2692 S. La Cienega Blvd., Mid-City, 310-837-3297) at 2 PM, where she'll be signing copies of her Momofuku Milk Bar Cookbook (Clarkson Potter $19.99). Monday evening, she's signing the book at a somewhat secretive event hosted by the design company, Band of Outsiders. You have to RSVP to band@bandofoutsiders.com for details.

Tuesday

Top Chef Michael Voltaggio's sandwich shop, Ink.sack, is now taking phone orders for pick-up, which means it finally has a phone number! Orders can be called in from 10 AM to 3:30 PM, and after being open for several months from Wednesday through Saturday only, one should note it has expanded its days to Tuesday - though the sandwich makers still rest on Sunday and Monday (323-655-7225).

Wednesday

Those who have long yearned to blend their own wines should head for the Hotel Palomar for an event put on by Australian Mollydooker Wines. The "Blend-A-Hand Winemaker's dinner" will begin with a tasting of reds, followed by a winemaker-led course about blending wines yourself (they suggest you not wear white). Afterward, there's dinner - with more wine of course, such as Mollydooker Gigglepot, Blue Eyed Boy, Enchanted Path, Carnival of Love and Velvet Glove - they do have a way with names (6:30-10:30 PM; $105 per person; 10740 Wilshire Blvd., Westwood, 888-637-4472).

Thursday

To celebrate 20 years of Joe's, chef Joe Miller joins with chef Walter Manzke for a five-courser (to benefit the Special Olympics Southern California) with wines to match. Dishes include turbot with Thai curry and crispy prawn spring roll, and forest mushrooms royale with Maine lobster, served all evening long (310-399-5811).

Friday

It's "TGI-Truffle" night at Whist at The Viceroy in Santa Monica, where chef Tony DiSalvo celebrates the end of every week with truffles and more truffles - black truffle pizza for $40, white truffle pizza for $60...and a plain pizza for $20, for those who don't see the point of eating grotty looking things snuffled out of the ground by pigs and dogs (310-260-7500).

Saturday

What passes for fall is in the air here in Southern California. And to help us pretend that we have seasons, Culver City's Saint Amour is offering a menu of cold weather Gallic favorites, including cassoulet for two ($45 for the pair), forest mushroom pot pie ($16), loup de mer with oven-dried grapes ($26), moules frites ($19) and boeuf Bourguignon ($24) with pumpkin crème brûlée ($8) for dessert (310-842-8155).

Sunday

TV chef Scott Conant will be in Beverly Hills at his Scarpetta restaurant to prepare a feast to benefit C-CAP (Careers Through Culinary Arts Program), beginning at 5 PM with a rooftop reception at the Montage Hotel, followed by dinner at 6:30 PM ($150 per person; for reservations, call Gloria Barke at 818-756-1260).
