The calls for gender equality are global, inspiring, and hard to ignore--as they should be. But, isn't it time we also send up a clear and mighty call about something we often ignore that still holds women back: how tough women are on one another?
Finding answers to gender balance is a learning curve; there will be differences, learn to listen actively and solutions can be found. Women and men think very differently, as if we lived in different realities or worlds... and may I add again "vive la difference."
To narrow the gender gap between men and women in politics it is imperative that it is understood that the root of the problem does not necessarily relate to a lack of interest, rather a lack of ambition to carry out political candidacy in a politically male-dominated world.
Women need sponsors and they need to come together in supportive networks. There is no shame in asking for help. It is the way we will finally get more seats in the boardroom and our career desires met.
