The president said Thursday that “it’s not the right time” for such a large-scale event given concerns about the ongoing pandemic.
The Florida sheriff says he doesn't have enough officers or funds — and the Republicans don't have a "solid plan" for a major event just a month away.
“We will have to see how this unfolds in Florida and elsewhere around the country," Stephen Hahn told CNN.
The Jacksonville order came on the same day the head of the World Health Organization warned that the pandemic is “not even close to being over."
The GOP convention had been scheduled for Charlotte, North Carolina, before the coronavirus pandemic changed the city's plans.
