Murdoch Says Meeting With Bancroft On Dow Takeover "Constructive"

Rupert Murdoch and representatives from the Bancroft family met for nearly five hours Monday as they discussed the News Corp chief executive's $5bn takeover bid for Dow Jones and its flagship Wall Street Journal.

Mr Murdoch, accompanied by his son, James, was trying to convince the Bancrofts, who control 64 per cent of Dow Jones voting power, that he would be a responsible steward of a newspaper whose editorial integrity the family has guarded for more than a century.
