Authors Get Political: Who Gives What

You read their books, but did you ever wonder their politics? Here's a look at what your favorite authors have given to the 2008 presidential candidates.
John Grisham made headlines last month when he hosted a fundraiser in Charlottesville, VA for Hillary Clinton. He has a new, third quarter donation to Hillary for $4,600 and has not given to anyone else. One E. Grisham has also given $4600 from the same Virgina PO Box.

Grisham isn't the only author for Hillary. Vampire authoress Anne Rice has given $4600 to Clinton. "Joy Luck Club"
Amy Tan gave $4600 to Hillary Clinton in the most recent quarter.

Meanwhile teen queen Judy "Superfudge" Blume gave $1000 to Obama, adding to a previous Richardson gift. "Bel Canto" author Ann Patchett is also an Obama supporter, donating $600 earlier in the year, although she gave nothing in the third quarter.

But, many authors have not donated anything to a 2008 candidate. Stephen King, Danielle Steel, Jackie Collins, Michael Crichton, "Middlesex" author Jeffrey Eugenides, Nora Roberts, Cormac McCarthy, "Secret Life Of Bees" author Sue Monk Kidd, Garrison Keillor, "The Secret" author Rhonda Byrne, Alice Sebold, John Krakauer, Malcolm Gladwell are just a few of the many who turn up blank.
