Tonight Show Staffers Laid Off, But Leno Will Cover Their Salaries

Jay Leno will pay out of his pocket the salaries of some 80 staffers of "The Tonight Show" who were laid off on Friday for at least the next week, a source said Saturday.

"Tonight Show" executive producer Debbie Vickers is said to have assisted Leno with the logistics of his decision, which came to light a day after disgruntled employees charged that the late-night host had been unfair to them.
