Dodd Ties Daughter's Birth To Presidential Bid

Ames, Ia. - The impetus for Chris Dodd's presidential bid was born two days after the worst terror attack on American soil.

It was his daughter, Grace.

She was due on Sept. 11, 2001, he said, but doctors decided to delay the birth because hospitals had to cope with victims from the World Trade Center attacks.

"I picked her up that afternoon. ... I asked myself ... what kind of a life, what kind of a country, what kind of a world is my little girl going to grow up in?" the Connecticut senator told a crowd of about 210 in downtown Ames on Wednesday.
