"Meet The Press" Tribute Draws Huge Ratings

Roughly six million people tuned in to Meet The Press this past Sunday, making it one of the highest-rated episodes in the show's history.

Meet The Press, which has held the top spot among Sunday morning talk shows for the past six and a half years, typically attracts around four million viewers. In the wake of September 11th, it drew almost 9 million.

Former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw hosted the show, which was devoted to late Tim Russert, who died Friday of a sudden heart attack. Brokaw left the moderator's chair empty, and sat in an armchair, surrounded by colleagues and commentators who weighed in warmly on Russert's legacy.
