Chicago Gas Prices Dropping, Could Fall To $3

Gasoline prices, which have declined steadily for more than a month in Chicago and nationally are expected to continue dropping this Labor Day weekend, and could fall to near $3 a gallon before the end of the year, unless Hurricane Gustav decides to rain on the consumer party.

Prices, which are averaging $4.04 a gallon in Chicago, are expected to dip below $4 and possibly as low as $3.95, this weekend said AAA-Chicago Motor Club spokeswoman Beth Mosher. Statewide, prices are averaging $3.88 a gallon and are expected to fall to around $3.80, and nationally, they're expected to fall from $3.67 to about $3.60, she said.
