Cheaper Cell Service Coming To Chicago

Cricket Communications, a division of Leap Wireless, is bringing its low-cost wireless telephone plan to Chicago -- the largest market the company has served.

Cricket will launch its service by mid-2009 and intends to cover the Chicago area, extending north to the Wisconsin border, west to DeKalb, east to Lake Michigan and south to South Bend, Ind.

The company's business strategy centers on a $45-a-month before-taxes plan that includes unlimited talk, domestic long distance and text-messaging, voice mail, call waiting, and unlimited text-messaging to Mexico, as long as the user is calling in a Cricket coverage area.
