If Taxes Were Raised, Why Is Cook County Asking For More Money?

Wait, wasn't the county supposed to be flush with money after hiking the sales tax earlier this year?

It was March when Todd Stroger's sales tax increase was passed, bumping the county portion of the tax from .75 to 1.75 percent.

The hike, expected to raise $426 million a year in new money, gave Chicago the highest municipal sales tax rate in the nation.
