Charlie Wheelan Goes Underwater To Get Noticed In Crowded Emanuel Replacement Race (VIDEO)

Fifth District Congressional candidate Charlie Wheelan is taking a novel approach to distinguish himself in the crowded race to succeed Rahm Emanuel in the U.S. House.

Calling on his background as an economist, Wheelan goes underwater in his new ad, to hammer home the point that "the economy is underwater. But I can help."

Watch the spot:

Wheelan, who lacks the name recognition and fundraising base of established front runners Sara Feigenholtz, John Fritchey and Mike Quigley, told MSNBC that the ad will air on cable channels during the Super Bowl. He spent $30,000 to make the underwater ad and another unconventional spot, in which he is upside down, that has not been released.
