State Could Lose Nearly 150,000 Jobs This Year: Study

Illinois could lose another 147,200 jobs this year on top of the 100,700 jobs it lost in 2008, according to a new study released Friday.
Illinois still has more than $1.1 billion in its unemployment benefits trust fund, but the worsening economic slump means the state could be forced by late December to borrow money from the federal government to pay benefits, according to a spokesman for the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
