Illinois Still Has Time To Get Stimulus Money: State

Illinois transportation officials say they haven't missed any federal deadlines for stimulus funds.

And an Illinois Department of Transportation spokeswoman, Marisa Kollias (Mah-'RISAH 'KOH-lee-us), says the state isn't at risk of missing out on that money.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said this week his department hasn't received project lists from Illinois.

But Kollias says Illinois still has time and that no federal agency has suggested the state's missed deadlines.

She says Illinois has a window of about four months to complete an involved project-approval process.

That included inviting public comment on a nearly $700 million IDOT project list that emphasizes road repairs. Kollias says that comment period ended only Tuesday.
