E-Cigarette: CONTROVERSY Over Supposedly 'Eco-Friendly' Cigarette

Controversy is brewing over new so-called "e-cigarettes" (electronic cigarettes) that claim to be both safe (they deliver the nicotine to the lungs via vapor instead of smoke) and green:

Green Smoke is the eco friendly electronic cigarette. It produces smoke-like vapor- as opposed to cigarette smoke which contains a number of chemicals which impact the atmosphere. In addition, each e-cigarette cartridge is comparable to 20 cigarettes. That's 19 fewer cigarette butts per pack. Combine that with a rechargeable battery - you get less waste.

The FDA disagrees. The agency is seeking to ban the product by blocking imports and insists that more studies on these electronic cigarettes are needed. In response, E-Cigarette makers issued a press release defending their methods and saying they go beyond the regulations to inform consumers about the product.
