Marc Malkin reports that American Idol is in talks with Emmy Award-winning Food Network doyenne and southern food magnate Paula Deen for a possible guest judging stint. It's a combination that could be as satisfying as Velveeta and chocolate, or stuffing on a stick, or any of the other things Paula Deen is trying to kill us with.
Says Marc Malkin:
If Ellen DeGeneres is the resident voice of the fans, then Deen would likely fall into fan-meets-mom category. With her Southern charm--and honky-tonk soundbites--we imagine contestants wouldn't have a hard time swallowing even the worst reviews served up by the lovable white-haired 63-year-old grandmother.
Malkin also notes that Deen has no identifiable musical experience, but neither did DeGeneres.
